5x where to go:

West-Canada

So, I have been thinking about my blog and it occured my mind that I actually just have a travel journal. Not really interesting for random visitors, who don't know me personally. That needed to be changed as I want to reach the interest of more people. That's why I came up with the idea to make a "5x where to go" part. In these pieces I will write down the 5 highlights of my trip of which I think you should visit them (if you ever get there). So first up, my trip towards West-Canada past summer.

1. Helmcken falls

Helmcken falls is known as the #4 highest waterfall in Canada and I can tell you, it is amazing. Besides the fact that it is so high, the surroundings are also stunning. A stone circle carved by water, wind and other ways of erosion. Down below you can see a small waterfall and next to it some fallen trees. At least, that is what I saw. Knowing that these trees were probably about 15m tall, it is almost unbelievable to see the waterfall behind it. The waterfall itself is 141m high. Not to forget, you can find this waterfall in British-Columbia between Jasper and Kamloops, in Wells gray national park down the murtleriver.

2. Whale watching and hot springs tour

Next up is a little bit more towards the coast. I've gone to Vancouver Island and I have been to Tofino, a little place but full of people. In tofino you can visit many whale watching tours and I did one of them, including a hot spring visit. This was absolutely the most fantastic thing I did during my stay. Of course I can't garantee for you guys to see any whales or other sea animals, but I did see them and if you even get the chance to go, then go! I saw grey whales, a humpback whale, a brown bear a sea eagle and a lot of sea otters. All these animals and the hot spring visit made this my perfect day. It is definitely worth all the money you pay them. (Note; if you get as lucky as me.) And besides that I got to sit in a awesome zodiac so that made it even better.

3. Miller Lake and Eva Lake

Miller Lake and Eva Lake are located in Mount Revelstoke national park in British Columbia and it takes a hike to get there. Rough pathways lead you up to these places and it is actually worth it. Miller Lake took my breath away. The sun was up and shone on the water, reflecting the view we had in front of us. Mountains with snow, grass and a beautiful blue sky above it all. A little island in the middle of it can be reached by some dead trees in the water. As long as it may last. If you come here, please try to get on the island and enjoy your surroundings in silence. Just breathe.

Eva Lake is a little further but as you are up here anyway, you might as well go and see. So different, but very nice as well.

4. Maligne Lake

When you visit Maligne Lake, and if you are able to, you should go for the Bald Hills Hike. It takes you a while, but with each step you take you get a little further towards the top of the mountain. Don't stop halfway if you think you've seen enough. Maligne Lake is big and once you get to the top, you can make a 360 degrees turn to see every corner of it. Take a sweater, because you're about 2km higher than the point from where you started and it might get a little cold. I don't really know what else to say besides that you should go if you ever visit Jasper National Park.

5. Jasper & Lac Beauvert

So I've told you about two places (number 1 & 4), which are in the neighbourhood of Jasper. However, I haven't mentioned Jasper itself at all. But Jasper is very nice as well! A visit can be combined with a walk around Lac Beauvert and I highly recommend that. It isn't a real hike such as the once towards Maligne Lake of Miller Lake, but it is just for relaxing. If you keep your pace, it will only take you about an hour or so, but sitting on a bench can do good also. Jasper is fairly known, so there are some more people in town, but it remains a very cute little town in which you can spend a day or two without getting bored.

So go travel and enjoy all the beauty West-Canada has to offer! Don't mind going left if everyone else is going right, because you might see something wonderful. However, always be aware of the wildlife including bears. Be safe :)
