The pastel colored houses of Cinque Terre

We rose early to visit two towns of the Cinque Terre. First up was Manarola. Because we went early, we weren't accompanied by many other tourists, so it was nice and peaceful. Manarola had this cliff at the end of the city, where water was flowing quite rough. My friends and I went for a swim, but the water was so salty, I actually felt it burning in my throat minutes later. Manarola, just as the other 4 towns, is made up of little, pastel colored houses, with small streets between them. It's extremely cute.

The second town was Vernazza, the second in line if you look at the map. Vernazza looked even smaller, as it has one street packed up with little shops, and a 'piazza' (also known as a square), which was full of restaurants. We wanted to walk up the hill a little bit to get a better picture, but we were stopped because we had to pay to walk the trail. Lucky as we were, I told the ticket man we only wanted to make a picture. It was fine and so we got the shot, even without paying. Yes, I can definitely say I'm lucky. We did some quick shopping for diner (pasta bolognese ;)), and we're heading for a relaxed evening. Ciao!
