Go explore the Biesbosch

When you think of The Netherlands, there are a few things that might pop up in your head. First of all; Amsterdam. Our capital is well known by foreigners, or at least they think they know it. Besides that, windmills, tulips and rain are things that are commonly thought of. However, we have way more to offer.

I'm Dutch myself and I can tell you, I haven't seen it all. We have several national parks and one of them will be highlighted in this blog. National park 'The Biesbosch' consists of 2 parts. The Netherlands has many provinces and therefore this national park has been split in 2: "de Hollandse Biesbosch" and "de Brabantse Biesbosch". Most people will refer to the last one if they say that they've been to the Biesbosch. It's the biggest and best known.

The entire Biesbosch is made up of islands and water. Many bridges connect the islands in the Brabantse Biesbosch. It is perfect for a day of cycling. You can spot kingfishers, beavers and many more beautiful or rare animals. The Hollandse Biesbosch however, is better for canoeing, as there are many small creeks which are amazing from the canoeing perspective.

Go explore it yourself!

I can definitely say the Biesbosch is fun for everyone, kids, teenagers and the elderly. This beautiful scenery with its many inhabitants could be your perfect spot for a weekend camping or just for a day out. Go explore it yourself!
